⚠️ Important: There are two places called “Almbachklamm”. And they are only a 20-minute drive apart. It’s easy to get mixed up.
❌ NOT this: The Almbachklamm in Germany (Marktschellenberg): a gorge walk (no canyoning).
✅ YES, this: The Almbachklamm in Austria (near Hallein, by Wiestalstausee).

Almbachklamm by public transport
1) Train: Salzburg → Hallein
Getting to Hallein by train is straightforward and usually the easiest part.
2) Hallein → Canyoning meeting point: Taxi/Uber
From Hallein onwards, public transport becomes rare and a bit risky timing-wise. (During the week the only bus line is the 450. No weekend connection). There is also no regular public bus that drops you perfectly right at the meeting point.
The tours start at 10:00 or 14:00. I genuinely wouldn’t want to bet the day on a tight bus connection.
Most reliable option: take a taxi or Uber from Hallein. It’s not far at all (10-15 minutes). Especially if you’re 2–4 people. It often works out reasonably per person and keeps you flexible (also for the ride back).

3) Local public alternative: Tennengau Shuttle
If you’re coming from Hallein Train Station, Adnet, Krispl/Gaißau, Oberalm or Puch bei Hallein, the Tennengau Shuttle can be a practical public alternative to a taxi.

4) Where exactly is the meeting point?
The meeting point is a carpark at Wiestalstausee. This is the start of the canyoning tour. There is no hike to it. The closest landmark is the Wiestal Dam (Wiestal Staumauer). From there, it’s roughly 300 metres to the meeting point.
Below are the google maps direcitons. Getting there by car is easy enough with any kind of navigation. And you can park right here for free.
